Formula Drift Round 1 Long Beach

So where do I start it’s been a crazy few weeks in the USA.It all started about 6 weeks ago when I got to Limitless motorsports and started final prep off the car for the 2014 season. Some big changes in the off season with my program and mainly changing car and tire team. My good friend and spotter Faruk sourced a S14 and the chassis was prepped and started at limitless motorsport.

The main ingredients being a Nissan S14 chassis that I know really well. 2JZ engine which has become my partner in drifting the last few years. A very trick Selhom Sequential transmission from Sweden. My Buddy Christer flew in from Norway and made sure our engine was in tip top tune with 700hp thanks again to HPS for letting us use there dyno.

The Angle
We wanted to make sure this car had as much angle as possible so it was no brainer as we started working with Wisefab last season.Ardo once again hooked us up with the best suspension arms and hubs in the business.

The Suspension
With the added grip of the wisefab setup (Yes our car is slammed compared to most FD cars thanks wisefab) we started working with Odi Backhis at Feal suspension.Odi is a suspension god and having a vast experience in a multitude of motorsports and making his S14 one of the fast on the grid Odi personalised our setup and gave us the exact valing and suspension setup to our requirements to make sure we could extract as much grip out of our new Achilles 123S.

The Tires
And our biggest change was moving to the Achilles tires for the 2014 season. The grip from these tires continues to blow my mind and with 700hp on tap and the above setup we are happy to finally have a car that competes with the best cars in formula drift. So thanks again to Brian at Bridges racing and Cheralyn believing in our team for the 2014 season.

Media day was on Tuesday everything went well with the new car and we showed good speed compared to most of the grid.Only thing is we wehere probably the least powered on the grid so we where started tomap and have a final check over.Thanks to Christer for checking the tune and having the best engine package i ever had and to HPS loaning us the DYNO for the evening

Qualifying Day 1
Qualifying started off not the way we wanted. As we where starting abit down the grid due to our 2013 championship position we where waiting and never got called to the grid.We enquired and had be informed we had missed our first judgying run! Not an ideal start for the 2014 Season!
Run2 and its all on the line , the last month of preparations comes down to the next 20 seconds! No pressure at all!! We put in a good solid run and enough for 4th place with a score of 93.

Top 32 battles
First up was Geoff Stoneback one of the newcomers and rookies to formula drift.I think he didn’t have much practice and qualified with just one run also .We laid it down pretty hard and pulled a good gap which was enough in both runs to send us through to the top 16.

Next up was Kyle mohan in his RX8. Kyle was carrying alot of damage after his big impact in top 32.Again the Achilles S14 was just hooking up and giving me so much pace we where given the advantage and moved on to the top 8.

Top 8
Battle of Norway battling my good friend Fredric Aasbo and countryman. We would lead once again and it would seem the Achilles S14 just seems to be one of the fastest cars on the grid and pulled a nice gap with good lines in run 1.We chased hard and it was enough for the judges to send us into the final 4.




Top 4
This would be an eagerly awaited battle against none other then wisefab team mate and 2013 formula drift champion mike essa. Again the Achilles and combination of our 2014 chassis mixed with proximity to the walls was the winning combination against Essa’s BMW .Fastkenny was back and moved on to our first ever formula drift finals



In the final we faced off against 2010 Formula Drift Champion Chris Forsberg in his 1000hp 370z. This would be the closest battle of the event and a slight mistake by us following chris was enough to give him the win. A great result nonetheless and thanks to all my sponsors as without you none of this would be possible

Gatebil On Ice

The Gatebil On Ice was this weekend in Sigdal- Norway. Kenneth prepped his new vinyl wrapped car for testing on the Ice and drove to Sigdal to participate. One the way one of trailer wheels exploded, after a quick fix he was back on the road again.

Half an hour before the Gatebil competion «Breisladden» started he tested the car, and competed right after, and won 1. place. The car was functioning and is ready for new projects this Winter.

Round 4 Formula Drift New Jersey

Rd 4 New Jersey
I drove this course last year also, and I new this track well. I qualified as nr 7th. I drove against Tony B top 32, knocked him out. Ready for top 16, when my clutch locked up. I could not shift gear before the race. So I smashed the car in 3rd gear and started the car up. I held the E-brake hard, clutched out on 7000 rpm, it loosened a bit, and I bearly got it in gear. The car did not run good, in the first turn I could hear and feel the clutch slip, and my 350z straightened up, the rare end came out and I hit the wall. Matt Powers made it through to the next round, and I was out.


Round 3 Palm Beach

Rd 3 Palm Beach
A new course, I was excited, especially on the car and how it would handle the heat. It was extremely hot and the humidity was high, I found it hard to concentrate. The Team gave me water all the time, so that I prevented a heat stroke. The Practice did´nt go so well, the car was strange driving. We removed the Sway Bar and the car was totally changed and much better to drive. We qualified good, and won against Matt Powers Top 32. Then I drove against Ken Gushi Top 16, and we both did a close race and it became «One More Time», he crashed in to my car and I passed on to the next round with Chris Forsberg Top 8. Chris Forsberg is one of the best driver out there and I knew it would be a difficult race. My car was starting to feel heavy and slow, and it felt like 200 of my horsepowers was on vacation. I drove my best and drove at full throttle, but it was not enough. I was out.

Round 2 Atlanta.

Rd 2 Atlanta.

I drove this course last year, and i felt that I did it well. Therefore I was looking forward to driving it this year also. When it came down to driving this year, Formula D had turned the horseshoe around, a faster input but a slower exit. The practice was ok. We qualified as nr.5th. Because there was something wrong with the speed measuring, they made adjustments and suddenly all of the drivers got speed points and I got a new qual number- 12th. Top 32, I drove against Walker Wilkerson, it was close and we had to go «One More Time». We were ready at Start, and I felt that something was wrong, In the horseshoe the arm broke, and knocked the drive shaft out. My Team Lutz Performance tried to fix it, but 5 min was not enough time to sort that out. So Walker Wilkerson passed on to the next run, and I was out.

Round 1 Long Beach.

The Formula D season has begun. Kenneth with his new team Lutz Performance, finished 10th at the season’s first run in Long Beach California.


In the last even in 2011 at Irwindale Raceway Kenneth crashed the Nissan 350z he uses to compete in Formula Drift. To prepare for the FD 2012 season, the car was shipped to Lutz Performance in Tampa to assess the damage and repair the car to be ready to compete in round 1 April 6th 2012.


Kenneth was excited to test the car’s new setup in Long Beach! Lutz Performance had received new sponsors, and with many new added parts, such as a new triple plate carbonetic carbon clutch now installed in the 350z, it enabled him to drive more aggressive and push his driving skills and the 350z to a whole new level. Also now installed are brand new coilovers from Stance that gives the twin turbo 350z much more traction! Lutz Performance installed new front hubs and arms provided by Powered By Max that allowed Kenneth to have more angle and much more aggressive steering. SPL Pro suspension provided Kenneth will all new suspension components for his 350z. Konig Wheels provided Kenneth with Ultra light weight wheels for his 2012 Formula Drift campaign. All in all the Nissan 350z has been completely re-constructed and re-designed by Lutz Performance to ensure a smooth season for Kenneth Moen in 2012!!!


After qualifying in the top 32 for round 1 Long Beach, Kenneth’s first run was against Darren McNamara (Falken Tire’s Saturn Sky) who unfortunately crashed on his first run and knocking himself out of the event. He then took on Conrad Grunewald (Hankook Camaro) and defeated him as well and advanced to the top 8. Up next we had to beat Matt Powers (Need 4 Speed 240sx) to make it into the top 4, after a very close battle between Kenneth and Matt, Matt Powers advanced to the top 4 and round 1 long beach was in the books.


Kenneth is looking forward to a great season with his new team Lutz Performance in 2012!

Kenneth kjørte oppvisning på Solberg extreme motor show 2011

Kenneth kjørte oppvisning på Solberg extreme motor show i Telenor arena. Dette er tredje året Solberg brødrene har motorshow der. I år var det ny layout på banen og det viste seg og fungere veldig bra. Kenneth hadde nybygget motor til dette eventet og hadde noen småproblemer til å begynne med , men han fikk orden på bilen etter hvert og det fungerte helt rått. dette var siste eventet for kenneth i 2011. Vi gleder oss til og se han kjøre mere i 2012! Takk for i år!                               

Rent bord i Mantorp!

Kenneth Kjørte Bilsports Drifting Konkuranse på Mantorp. Kenneth dro ned og vant. denne gangen var det 10000skr i premie til vinneren og Kenneth kunne dra fornøyd hjem med både penger og pokal.

Formulad Seattle

Kenneth var igjen klar for å kjøre Samuel Hubinette sin brutale Dogde Challenger. Kenneth testet noen runder mandagen før løpet. Bilen funket helt værst! 8000rpm på 4 gir rundt hele banken. Kenneth gledet seg til løpet! En super rask bane. Når torsdagen kom og treningen til selve løpet startet var det noe rart, bilen gikk ikke som den skulle. etter noen runder med trening blei det fastslått at motoren var syk. Minst et stempel var brent og Kenneth måtte bryte før kvall. Dette var siste løpet i Sams bil og kenneth skal kjøre siste løpet på Irwindale i sin egen Nissan 350z.

Kenneth i New Jersey

Da var det tid for at Kenneth skulle få kjøre Samuel Hubinette sin Challenger. Samuel kunne i ikke kjøre selv denne helgen og spurte Kenneth om han ville kjøre for han. Kenneth var klar som et egg. Først på treningen var det problemer med oljetrykk og oljelekkasjer. Det ble ikke så mye trening da bilen måtte fikses. Kenneth følte han var klar uansett og ga det han kunne på kvall. På første kvall satt han en safe bra runde, neste så klinte han til og la rumpa helt inntil veggen rundt hele banken og kysset den i utgangen. Det var klart for top 32 og Kenneth skulle kjøre mot Field. Field startet med Kenneth bak. Field traff veggen og mistet kontrollen. Han bommet på neste sving og fikk nesten stopp sladd. Kenneth klarte ikke stoppe og kysset han på bakskjermen. Så var det Kenneth først og Field bak. Alle var kjempe fornøyd og vi trodde vi var videre. Men vi tok feil. Field var videre. Kenneth var uansett fornøyd og gleder seg til neste runde i samme bil i Seattle.

Kenneth i Atlanta

Kenneth sendte sin Nissan 350z til USA for å prøve seg i Formulad som er den Amerikanske serien.
Treningen gikk bra fra første stund. Alt virket veldig bra.
På kvall fredag begynte bilen å fuske. Kenneth måtte prøve å kjøre rundt problemet og kvallet som nr 17.
I topp 32 mot walden ble det one more time 2 ganger. Siste gangen så stoppet Kenneths bil og Walden gikk videre.
Kenneth var uansett kjempefornøyd og fikk forespørsel av selveste Samuel Hubinette om å kjøre de neste 2 rundene
i hans Dodge Challenger.

Gumball 3000

Kenneth kjørte 2011 Gumball. Rallyet gikk fra London – Istanbul. Bilen han kjørte med sin codriver Derek Butler aka Buttsy var en Toyota Supra, som var spesialbygget for anledningen. Bilen var spekket med gadgets, likevel manglet den ventilasjon og isolasjon. Gutta stekte i bilen, værst var varmen i Bulgaria. Eksosanlegget falt av og gikk rett i torpedoveggen, slik at de fikk mer oppvarming. Kenneth og Buttsy vant «Sparkle» Prisen (beste oppdatering med bilder, moro og film).
